so far behind, can't write

I haven't written hardly anything in four days. The weekend killed my enthusiasm and my plot died as well. I don't know what to do. I have an ending in mind, or at least I know who my killer is, but I haven't even introduced them into the novel! I just can't figure out how. I know where point a and point b are, but I just can't get from one to the other. I'm supposed to be at 50k in three days. I'm at maybe 26k now. That's a couple of really long days.

I'm going to try and pound out some words at the library on friday. Or starbucks. Or borders. Borders, I'll go after I get done with school. Or maybe I'll just hang out in the student lounge. I don't know, but as long as I get something written I'll be happy. I'm tired of hanging out in the 'I hate myself and want to die' forum (currently known as 'nanowrimo at my soul' but I like the other one better).

I was so bored that I went on subeta. Yeah.

Here's to not doing anything until I get my wordcount for tomorrow!

Well it's day four and I'm 1k behind. The story's going pretty well though, I actually like it. I'm having a little bit of trouble with Sherlock Holmes; he's supposed to be almost amused by Bright bu instead he's, I don't really know but it's not translating properly. I'm at the point now where my last version of it went to crap so we'll see how I feel about it after todays writing session. 4k before work hopefully. At least the 3 I need for the day, I can always write during my lunch break if I have to. That means dragging my laptop there though. For some reason the battery died, I'm not sure why. Usually it turns itself off long before that point.

Okay, off to 1883 London England. Brights about to get out of jail and then she'll have to find Holmes. I'm not sure how she's going to convince them to let her stay there or if Watson will have a chivalrous moment and invite her but we'll see.

I have a plot!

Okay, so it's been awhile. I have a plot now, it's actually one that I did in 2004 and hated so much afterwards that I deleted any thought of it on everything. I started to plot it out, decided that it sucked, and then my sister asked the right questions so I'm going for it again. I'm really excited to start and I don't think I'll do anymore outlining. I think I'll just see where it goes. Nano starts in 3 days, so I don't really have much time to do anything. My birthday is tomorrow, I know I'm getting shoes. I'm happy about that.

Should I try more?

I did another writing challenge and got 364 words in 10 minutes. I'm going to keep upping it by 5 minutes until I'm writing for an hour, hopefully with around 3k by the end of it.

You know, I've been looking at the numbers and I could conceivably go for far greater than 100k. That's only 3334 words a day. Last year I was writing about 3k an hour. I have more than an hour of free time a day. If I really pushed myself I could go for 200k or even more if I did more on weekends. I'm getting ahead of myself though, I don't want to give myself a goal that I won't be able to motivate myself to reach.

I'm going to hang out with Destinie tonight; she's bringing over a bottle of wine and we're going to work on our respective projects. I'll save todays challenge until then.

Figuring out an outline

I've never really had an outline to work off of before and this year I've decided to try and make one. I just don't have a plot. I've looked at the snowflake method and Zette's 'It's just a Phase' article but nothing is going to help if I don't get a plot. I guess that should be my first priority instead of outlining.

I did a short challenge that they had on the nano forums. Just five minutes of writing and I only got 160 words so it wasn't a big deal. I need to start doing that more often because it's going to be a pain in the butt to have to pick up my speed during November. I'd like to be up to my full game at the beginning instead of taking half the month to teach myself not to type the wrong words. Holding myself accountable will be a big part of these next six weeks. I want to get into these habbits now, not when it's to late to figure out why they went wrong.
